The 5th Annual MPAK Gala Held to Raise Funds for Orphans and Vulnerable Children of North Korean Escapee Women
2019 MPAK Retreat - A Huge Success
MPAK had its 4th Annual Retreat at the Forest Homes, CA, July 5-7, 2019. With 175 people in attendance that included 11 guests from Korea. The retreat was a great success with a full range of activities for the parents and the children.
The weather was perfect for a campfire, which was enjoyed by all for roasting marshmallows and making and enjoying the smores. There was a great skit by Andrew Kim and the Captain Denny Kim, a beautiful K-Pop dance by Olivia Kook, a sumptuous dinner with adoptive families from Korea and India, and a great group of Saddleback Church led by pastor Max McGhee, and so much more.
We were honored to have three representatives from Korea Adoption Services (KAS) as they witnessed and observed the adoptive families. KAS was a big sponsor for the retreat, and they were immensely pleased with what they saw.
While the kids were kept busy with sporting activities, the adults were illuminated by the seminars taught by Estee Song and pastor Max McGhee on the principles of Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) to equip the parents with the tools needed to better raise their children by relating to the struggles that children go through.
But the biggest kudos go to Andrew and Helen Kim for organizing the retreat and executing without flaws. Their dedication and sacrifice made the retreat such a memorable one
