2020 MPAK Virtual Benefit of Love Gala Held

Photo_2.png

On Saturday, November 14, MPAK hosted a fundraising gala to support the orphans and vulnerable children of the North Korean escapees, HIV positive and special needs orphans, and orphans that have aged-out of the orphanage system.

Ms. Jinah Kim-Perek emceed our online event. Here she is conducting a live auction of a Darth Vader helmet, which is autographed by the original Star Wars cast members.

The virtual event resulted in raising $190,000.  After the expenses, $145,000 has been earmarked to support the orphans.

Considering it was the first-ever virtual fundraising event, it was a very successful event with nearly 260 supporters.

During the MPAK virtual Gala, the founder Steve Morrison honored Elaine Marumoto-Perez and James Marumoto of the Kansha Creamery for having supported MPAK's North Korea Vision Project.

Kansha Creamery has supported by donating a significant portion of their earnings to MPAK for three years, and MPAK is very grateful to Kansha for having supported us for three years.

The painting featured in the photo is a watercolor painting by a North Korean artist named Kim, Joya on North Korean children. For Kansha's support of MPAK's North Korea Vision, it was a very appropriate gift for them.
