MPAK 2nd Annual Fundraising Gala, October 13, 2016
The 2nd Annual MPAK Fundraising Gala Held - Oct 13, 2016
MPAK held its 2nd Annual Fundraising Gala on October 13, 2016 to raise funds for the 250 special needs residents residing at Holt Il-San Children's Center, where Molly Holt has been their grandma, their mother, and their big sister for 60 years. The Il-San residents needed many items, such as wheel chairs, medical equipment and supplies, wheelchair lift for transportation, facility repair and upgrades, physical therapy equipment, educational equipment, dental needs, elevator installation, and transportation needs.
The gala also raised funds for the two Chinese orphanages, one an orphanage housing 500 special needs children, and the other one that takes care of the children that were born with HIV positive disease. The Gala was attended by over 400 people, and some came from far away places such as Indiana, Georgia, Nebraska, and the Holt's Voices of the Soul Choir came all the way from Korea to perform at our Gala, their trip to the US sponsored by Samsung.
Molly Holt gave the keynote address as the Voices of the Soul Choir performed to the thunderous applause, mixed with heart moving moments and tears. The audience responded to the needs of the children in China and Holt, and we raised around $290,000 through the live auction, silent auction, live fundraising, and corporate sponsorships. It was an unforgettable night for the special needs children.
MPAK would like to thank all the people that came to our Gala and making difference in the lives of the needy children.
On behalf of MPAK and all the donors I was happy to deliver the funds raised at the Gala on November 9, 2016 at the Holt Il-San Center. President Kim Dae Yul and Molly Holt received a check for $130,000 on behalf of the residents.
The Voices of the Soul Choir performed thier very best despite their special needs and limitations. They have truly given their best and blessed all those at the Gala.
The $50,000 fund raised for the two orphanages in China will be sent soon, and Steve Morrison will travel to China on May 2017 to follow up on the progress made with the funds delivered.
The remainder of the raised funds will go into underwriting the expenses and budgeting for next year Gala in 2017, place and time to be determined.
