The 5th Annual MPAK Picnic
MPAK-USA families came together to celebrate joy in adoption. For various reasons, about half the family could not attend. Therefore, there were about 40 people in attendance. Our special guest speaker was Ms. Chung Kim, who represented the County of Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services, Adoption Division. Ms. Kim introduced the LA county program in foster care and adoption. We were happy to have her come and visit us and share with us other avenues of domestic adoption in the US as opposed to international adoption, which we were all familiar with. Jasper and Sharon Ji shared with us their story of adopting Iris. We were all touched by their story, and how happy they are with Iris. Jasper remarked, "Our lives used to be centered on just the two of us, but with Iris, the focus has been shifted where everything we do now must be centered around Iris. However, I am so happy. Sharon said, "It's like living a new life."
