A Special Greeting
Message from the late Bertha "Grandma" Holt
I am afraid whether my family members will accept the child I adopt.
I am afraid my neighbors will say something hurtful if they find out my child was adopted.
What if his/her friends tease or embarrass my child for having been adopted?
Will the child accept us as his/her own parents in later years?
What if my adopted child grows up and seeks to find birth parents?
I am afraid that adopting a child will ruin our family's reputation.
An Adoptee's Perspective in Korean Adoption (My Speech in Korea) . I was invited as a guest speaker to participate in the event promoting Korean adoption on June 15, 1999. There were over 400 people in attendance at the Korea Press Center building in Seoul. Representatives from many adoption agencies were present as well as adoptive families and their children. In particular, there were four bus loads of families and friends from Kwangju City that came. The event, which was organized by the Korea Social Welfare Society (SWS) was tremendously successful and gave great boost to the adoptive families and to all those present there.
The Gathering of the Seeds from the East (My Speech at the Ambassador Lee Hong-koo's Residence). I was given the honor to speak on behalf of the 400 adoptees and honored guests who were invited by the Honorable Lee Hong-koo at his residence during the First International Gathering of Korean Adoptees in Washington D.C. on September 11, 1999. The purpose of this speech was to communicate to the Ambassador and to all those present there just who we are as adoptees. Though it was an honest expression from my heart, it was evident that most of the adoptees felt the same way about themselves.
Read about some Korean-American families that have adopted. Their adoption experiences are told here. They openly share how they came to adopt children and the difficulties they had to overcome. But above all, they share their gratitude and joys in adoption. (MPAK will gladly accept your experience if you have one to share)

Here's the most current listing of US adoption agencies with approval
